Arsenal branded 'one of the best in the world' by Martinelli

The Gunners have delivered below expectations for the last few seasons, but there is hope they can improve their form in 2021-22.

Arsenal starlet Gabriel Martinelli believes his side are “one of the best in the world”.

Martinelli’s claim appears to be a rather bold one considering Arsenal’s form in the last couple of seasons.

Mikel Arteta was able to lead the team to FA Cup success in his first season in charge, but things have only gone downhill ever since.

Inconsistency proved to be a major stumbling block for the north London side last season as they ended 2020-21 without any silverware while also endured a subpar Premier League campaign, barely finishing in the top half of the table.

That said, the Gunners have a well-rounded squad containing many experienced players as well as highly-rated young players.

“I lost about five months because of the injury, but I think in the end we did well,” mentioned Martinelli, speaking to UOL.

“We had one of the best campaigns in the league after Christmas.

“It’s a new team, with a new coach too, but already with experience and that, I consider it one of the best in the world already.

“We had good games at the end of the season, the players are confident, so we have to try to go down this same path, so we need to start the season well.”
