Elite clubs in England will now have the normal three substitutions, though Arsenal’s boss is not happy about Premier League’s decision.

The good news turned into a bad one as Premier League announced to bring back the old three substitutions in a game. And Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta expressed his disappointment as it will bring complications to his tactics.

After the restart of football due to COVID19, elite clubs in England received the opportunity to make more changes during the matches. This was done to help the players get back to fitness after a long spell without action.

Difficult times.

Although, these changes are still maintained for the new season by some of the leagues in Europe, including the Champions League. But, Premier League clubs voted against these rules. And now, the teams will face the complexity of congested fixtures before Christmas.

Moreover, top managers such as Jurgen Klopp and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not like the decision carried out by the officials. Though, lower division clubs believe that the additional substitutions make a huge impact on the stronger teams. And it is quite unfair as top clubs have the advantage of a diverse squad list.

Arteta is able to switch five players for Arsenal in the Europa League. However, he is worried about the English League apocalypse that lies ahead.

“I would strongly support [five changes in England],” he said. “We are here to give the best possible show. We need players.

“They are the most important part of that. We have to protect them. It goes on and on and on.

“We’re going to have some really bad news with players that we are not respecting.”

Furthermore, the calendar will not become easy ahead of the international break in November.

“It’s not a coincidence, the percentage rate of muscular injuries,” Arteta added. “Intensity is not going to go down, the level of demands, the quality.

“Every match will be so competitive. Players will get injured.”

Additionally, Arteta also indicated that he will rotate Arsenal’s squad for Thursday’s clash against Molde.

“We’ll see some changes tomorrow again,” the Spaniard said. “I believe we have to manage the minutes and exposure we get with the players with the number of games they have.

“Now now but in the international week they play three games and at the moment they play every three or four days. We have to think about what we need at the present but it’s going to get really, really condensed.”
