Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester City have reportedly suffered a blow in their pursuit of Lyon star Houssem Aouar.

According to reports, Juventus could be making the first move that would make them favorites to sign Houssem Aouar.

The highly-rated French star is on the radar of a number of Europe’s leading clubs, including Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester City.

The Gunners in particular made concrete moves to sign Aouar last summer. However, their efforts were rebuffed by the French outfit on two occasions.

According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus are now expected to make the first move and begin negotiations for the 22-year-old over a summer transfer imminently.

Manchester City are also keen to boost their midfield options in the summer and were hopeful they could lure the midfielder to the Etihad Stadium.

Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta was equally desperate to bring him to north London and sees him as the ideal midfield partner to summer signing Thomas Partey.

Should Juventus make the first move, it puts them as clear favorites in the running to sign Aouar.

The Frenchman has a contract with Lyon until 2023 so it would require a decent amount to tempt Lyon to sell one of their star players this summer.

He has made 16 appearances in Ligue 1 for Les Gones so far this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
