Arsenal is now inching closer to confirm qualification to the next round of the Europa League. Mikel Arteta’s side subsequently beat Molde 4-1 to make it three wins in-a-row in the tournament.
The visitors upset the Gunners early in the first half. Molde’s Martin Ellingsen scored a curling strike in the 22nd minute past Bernd Leno for the opener.
However, Arsenal found their rhythm late in the first half. Eddie Nketiah came close to scoring the equalizer, though the officials ruled his attempt as offside.
Nevertheless, two own goals from Molde helped Arteta’s men take the lead in the match. Both of the goals involved the highly active Joe Willock, as Kristoffer Haugen put in his own net while trying to hold the England international. And substitute Sheriff Sinyan turned in Willock’s square ball into Molde’s net in the 52nd minute.
Arsenal then took charge of the situation from then on, as Bukayo Saka came off the bench to make a difference. He played a low cross to Nicolas Pepe who did not hesitate to sweep it past Andreas Linde.
Furthermore, late in the game, Arsenal sealed the deal with a banger from Willock who finally got a goal under his name.
Now, this means that the Gunners will need a win against the Norwegians in the reverse fixture to secure a place in the knockout stages.
