The Gunners suffered their first home defeat of the season, with Pep Guardiola beating his former assistant once again.

Manchester City defeated Arsenal 3-1 in their Premier League game on Thursday. The Citizens edged out Arsenal in a thrilling match at Emirates.

City are the Premier League leaders!

Arsenal made a bright start to the game and created a few chances early on. But a blind back pass from Takehiro Tomiyasu changed the course of the game.

Kevin De Bruyne got to the ball before Aaron Ramsdale and lifted it over his head to make it 1-0 for City in the 24th minute.

Arsenal increased the pace of the game significantly after conceding the goal. Their efforts paid off when Saka brought his side back into the game by converting a penalty three minutes before half-time.

City, however, took control of the game again when the second period started. VAR ruled out a penalty for the Citizens, but they clinched their second goal of the night through Jack Grealish in the 72nd minute.

Another misplaced pass, this time from Gabriel, saw Erling Haaland latch on to the ball at the edge of the box before sending it to Ilkay Gundogan. The German star then provided an assist for Grealish, who smashed the ball past Ramsdale with a precise strike.

Mikel Arteta brought in Leandro Trossard, hoping to salvage a point. But Haaland finished off the job by making it 3-1 for City in the 82nd minute.

A precise cutback from De Bruyne found Haaland inside the box. The Norwegian star then won the game for the Citizens with a powerful low shot into the far corner.

City go level on points with Arsenal at the top of the table but sits above them with a better goal difference.
