The Reds scored two late goals to reach the FA Cup’s next round at Emirates.
Liverpool defeated Arsenal 2-0 in their FA Cup match on Sunday. The Gunners’ dominance wasn’t enough to ensure their victory on home soil.
No Salah, No problem!
Arsenal’s excellent start to the game saw them create several chances early on. But the bar and two excellent saves from Alisson Becker prevented the hosts from scoring. Liverpool also had a few chances to score toward the end of the second half but failed to convert them as the two sides went into half-time with a goalless draw.
The Gunners’ pressure increased after the break while their opponents’ counter-attacks looked more and more dangerous. The visitors finally broke the deadlock in the 80th minute, punishing Arsenal for their wastefulness. A free-kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold was smashed into the back of the net by Jakub Kiwior’s own goal as Liverpool went ahead 1-0.
Arsenal went all-in with their attacks as they pushed for a late equalizer, but all they got was another Liverpool goal. Following a quick counter-attack, Luis Diaz received a through pass from Luis Diaz before smashing it into the roof of the net with a powerful shot.
Arsenal vs Liverpool: Man of the Match
Alisson deserves the Man of the Match title for keeping Liverpool in the game when they were under immense pressure in the first half. The Brazilian goalkeeper made six saves as he helped the Reds reach the FA Cup’s fourth round.
