Messi has shown no interest in ending his Argentina career after winning the World Cup.

Lionel Scaloni has insisted Lionel Messi’s Argentina future is entirely in his own hands.

According to his own remarks before the 2022 tournament, Messi played his last World Cup in Qatar. Incredible performances from the Argentine icon helped the Albiceleste claim their third World Cup title.

Reports about Messi’s possible retirement from international football surfaced in the media during the tournament. But the Paris Saint-Germain forward insisted he had no intention of ending his Argentina career after fulfilling his childhood dream of claiming the World Cup.

“I am not retiring from the Argentina national team. I want to continue playing as a champion,” Messi said after the World Cup final.

Messi has reunited with his Argentina teammates for their matches against Panama and Curacao during the international break.

Speaking in a press conference, Scaloni was asked about the 35-year-old’s international future.

“Messi will continue to come until he says otherwise. I see him happy on the pitch and within the selection,” the Argentina manager said.

“Leo’s looking good to me. He deserves all that love. He and all the players who are here deserve to go out and receive that love because they have not been able to live it.”
