The Blancos successfully hijacked Barcelona’s move for the Turkish starlet.

Arda Guler has been officially unveiled as Real Madrid’s latest summer signing.

A host of elite sides pushed to sign the 18-year-old, with Barcelona seemingly leading the race. However, a late bid from Real Madrid saw Guler move to Santiago Bernabeu ahead of the next season.

“I want to become a club legend like Di Stéfano,” Guler said in his unveiling at Real Madrid on Friday.

“First of all, I’d like to thank all my family and all the people who have contributed to this moment.

“I also want to thank the club president for his kind words. I also want to become a club legend like Di Stéfano.”

According to Goal, Real Madrid agreed to pay Fenerbahce a fixed fee of €20m plus €10m in add-ons. The Turkish club have also secured a 20% sell-on clause for Guler.

Guler becomes the Blancos’ fourth summer signing after the arrivals of Jude Bellingham, Joselu and Fran Garcia.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez added: “We welcome you and thank you for choosing this badge and this shirt to write your own history.

“At just 18 years of age, you have already fulfilled one of the greatest dreams of your life. You have come to Real Madrid, the club that has won 14 European Cups.”
