Houssem Aouar was heavily linked to a move to Arsenal over the summer and the Frenchman has commented on rumors he is unhappy at Lyon.

Houssem Aouar has once again claimed he has no regrets over his failed summer move to Arsenal.

The Frenchman agreed on personal terms with the Gunners but the club saw two bids for the midfielder rejected by Lyon sporting director Juninho.

Instead, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta turned to his other priority midfield target and met the release clause of Thomas Partey to prise him from Atletico Madrid on Deadline Day.

Arsenal will reportedly re-visit their interest in Aouar in January or next summer, but in the meantime, the 22-year-old insists he is content at Parc Olympique Lyonnais.

The Frenchman was recently sanctioned for the club for refusing to attend training and it led to rumors that he was unhappy at the club.

Speaking to RMC Sport, he said: “I do not see how I could be unhappy in my city, in my club. That is something that I do not understand (rumours that he is unhappy at Lyon).”

“I am very happy to be here, I took the decision to stay with the club that formed me, I savour every day I have here.

“Everything that I want, is to put this club back in its rightful place with my team-mates. I am very happy to be here, we have an enormous amount of ambitions for this season.”

On his failed move to the Premier League, Aouar added: “That is part of a footballer’s life, I am very well surrounded, the club and the coach have spoken with me a lot, it was quite a normal period.”

“I dealt with it well and as I said, I am very happy to have stayed.

“Certainly, everyone knows it, we have one of the best presidents, I am very happy to play for his club.

“He brings an enormous amount on a daily basis, it is a joy to be able to play under his orders.”
