The Real Madrid defender took a swipe at Man City following the first-leg draw between the clubs in the Champions League semi-finals.
Antonio Rudiger asserts that Manchester City posed no real threat during the Champions League semi-final first-leg deadlock against Real Madrid. He remains optimistic that Los Blancos can advance to the final.
In an enthralling 1-1 stalemate at the Santiago Bernabeu, Vinicius Junior and Kevin de Bruyne each scored memorable goals to split the spoils on Tuesday.
So, with the aggregate scoreline level, Real Madrid and City meet again next Wednesday at the Etihad in a winner takes all clash.
“They got the goal quite late so we feel like we could have had more but it’s not a problem, the tie is definitely on and we can go to Manchester with confidence,” Rudiger said after the final whistle.
“At the end of the day, they were not dangerous. They had a lot of possession, we knew this would happen, but they were not dangerous. The goal is quality from De Bruyne.”
When asked about Real Madrid’s chances of advancing past Manchester City in the upcoming second leg, Rudiger confidently replied: “We are Real Madrid, we are always confident.”
