In response to Kurt Zouma’s cat abuse video, Michail Antonio raised questions regarding another serious issue in sport and society.

Michail Antonio raised a serious question regarding racism following his West Ham teammate Kurt Zouma’s animal abuse incident.

Video footage was released showing the Hammers defender kicking and hitting a cat. In punishment for his deeds, Zouma was fined by the Premier League club and even lost a sponsorship deal with Adidas.

The French defender caused havoc in public due to his ill actions, and his pets were safely taken away by the RSPCA. In fact, people are also asking West Ham to terminate his contract right away.

However, Antonio took advantage of the situation to address the matter of social discrimination. He urges everyone to take similar actions against people who participate in acts of racism.

The star forward told Sky Sports when asked about Zouma: “I’ve got a question for you. Do you think what he has done is worse than racism?”

“I’m not condoning a thing that he has done. I don’t agree with what he has done at all. But, there are people that have been convicted and caught for racism and have played football afterwards.”

“They got punished, they got an eight-game punishment or something like that. But people are now calling for people to be sacked and lose their livelihood.”

“I have got to ask this question to everyone now. Is what he has done worse than what the people have done that are convicted for racism?”
