Antonio Conte hit back at Pep Guardiola’s ‘counter-attack’ statements on Instagram.

Antonio Conte has taken a subtle dig at Pep Guardiola on social media following Tottenham’s 3-2 win over Manchester City.

Harry Kane scored a brace and Dejan Kulusevski added another as Spurs beat the defending Premier League champions, and in turn blew the title race wide open.

Speaking after the game, Guardiola praised Tottenham and made a special mention of their counter-attacking tactics.

“After going behind, they defended so deep and so compact – it was incredible. They don’t lose the ball with Harry Kane and can run as well with Son and Kulusevski,” the Spaniard said.

“They played the way I expected them to play. They were good in the build-up and created a lot of space to run on the counter-attack, but in general we coped well and played a good game.

“Everyone knows what Kane gives. For the first goal we defended the pass inside badly, but after 10 to 15 minutes we created a lot of chances. Lloris was brilliant. We have to score more.”

However, Conte did not take Guardiola’s comments well. The Italian took to Instagram to upload all three goals scored by his side, while commenting on the post: “Counterattacks?!? Maybe not…” followed by three laughing face emojis.

The Spurs boss was full of praises for his side after the win, and said: “For sure it was a great win for us against a fantastic team like Man City.

“It’s a great compliment to City too because in my opinion, they showed themselves to be the best team in the world.

“To win a game like this it means we had the perfect performance.”
