Antonio Conte turned down the opportunity to manage the Premier League club, Tottenham. Here’s why he made that decision.

Antonio Conte has finally revealed why he did not accept the opportunity to manage Tottenham. It was quite clear that the north London side wanted to hire the services of the Italian tactician. But the deal did not go through. Why so?

Just weeks after guiding Inter Milan to a long-awaited Scudetto, Conte decided to make a way out of the club. Reports revolving around Inter’s situation said that they would be forced to sell first-team players to cover the financial burden.

Having been in the Premier League before with Chelsea where he won the title, Conte was negotiating with Spurs. However, the 51-year-old eventually chose not to stand in the dugout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Explaining his decision Conte spoke to Gazzetta Dello Sport: “Generally, I like challenges and I’ve accepted many of them during my career.”

“Even the top clubs I coached were never the favourites when I arrived. However, if there’s something that doesn’t convince me I prefer not to accept, regardless of the money.”
