Conte has stayed out of work since leaving Tottenham in March.
Antonio Conte has emerged as Napoli’s main target to replace Rudi Garcia.
Following Luciano Spalletti’s exit, the Blues hired Garcia at the beginning of the current campaign. However, the club’s underwhelming displays in Serie A and the Champions League, combined with Garcia’s reported issues with Victor Osimhen, have intensified reports about his imminent sacking.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Napoli formally approached Conte with an offer on Wednesday. Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis is reportedly a big fan of Conte and sees him as the right man to replace Garcia.
Only a few minutes after Romano’s report, Conte published a message on his Instagram account. The Italian manager has reiterated that he is in no rush to return to coaching.
“I’m linked with important clubs but as of now, my plan remains to wait and enjoy my family,” the former Juventus boss wrote.
Conte stayed in charge of Tottenham for 18 months, leading the Spurs to an eighth-place finish in the Premier League last season. Speaking after a commemorative match celebrating the Agnelli family’s 100th anniversary running Juventus, Conte said: “For now I’m enjoying my family, I made a clear choice when I left England. You know that many things can happen along the way.”
