Ansu Fati has boldly dropped Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi’s brother as his agent to join Jorge Mendes, who represents Cristiano Ronaldo.

17-year-old Ansu Fati is one of the great hopes for Barcelona in the future and is already stirring interest from other clubs, with Manchester United reportedly among them. The chances of an Old Trafford are tiny, though.

Barcelona know they have a seriously talented prospect on their hands and hope to tie him down to a new bumper deal until 2024. He’ll have official first-team status, a new jersey number, an increased salary, and a buyout clause allegedly worth €300m as part of the agreement.

No official announcement has been made yet by either party as Barcelona focus on a summer revamp following a disappointing 2019/20 campaign.

But now Mundo Deportivo claim Fati has dropped teammate Messi’s brother, Rodrigo, as his agent. He has joined Jorge Mendes’ agency Gestifute, which represents Ronaldo, instead.

This move will make Fati the second Barcelona player on Mendes’ books after Nelson Semedo.

Although chances of this leading to an exit from Camp Nou are pretty much zero, with Blaugrana president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirming they’ve already rejected offers for the teenager.

“We have received offers for Ansu Fati but we don’t want to sell him,” Bartomeu told Barca TV.

“We want him to grow here. He is not for sale.”
