The 19-year-old cut his summer holiday short to attend the first day of pre-season training.

Preparations for the 2022/23 campaign began on Monday for Barcelona.

Manager Xavi Hernandez welcomed back a host of first-team stars at the club’s Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper complex. The players did their medical check-ups in the morning. At around 19:00 (CET) in the evening, they will head to the pitch to train for a new season.

Xavi will have a full squad available next week once the international players who represented their nations last month, such as Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong, return from their holidays.

Who has returned?

Four of the players who were recently on loan in Alex Collado, Miralem Pjanic, Francisco Trincao, and Inaki Pena are present.

Despite reportedly being allowed extra time off to resolve their futures, Riqui Puig and Neto also attended. But Clement Lenglet, Moussa Wague, Oscar Mingueza, Samuel Umtiti, and Ousmane Dembele – who is officially out of contract – didn’t show up in Catalonia.

Ansu Fati, meanwhile, has cut his holiday short by one week to report back to training. First-team regulars such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Pedri, and Gerard Pique are also present.

BACK: Marc ter Stegen, Neto, Arnau Tenas, Peña, Gerard Pique, Sergino Dest, Sergi Roberto, Miralem Pjanic, Pablo Torre, Nico, Riqui Puig, Francisco Trincao, Pedri, Alex Collado, Abde, Ansu Fati, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Who will return next week?

Due to their involvement in the international games last month, the following players have an extra week off.

MISSING: Ronald Araujo, Eric Garcia, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Ferran Torres, Memphis Depay, and Martin Braithwaite.

These footballers will instead return to Barcelona for training next week.
