Six months after Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Saudi Arabia, another Premier League icon is set to join him in the country.

N’Golo Kante is set to end a memorable eight-year Premier League career by moving to the Saudi Pro League.

The contract of the Chelsea midfielder will expire at the end of the month. Although he had expressed interest in extending his stay at the club, no agreement came to fruition. He only made seven Premier League appearances in the last season due to injuries.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Kante is now on his way to Al Ittihad, the newly-crowned Saudi Pro League champions, who signed his French compatriot Karim Benzema from Real Madrid last week.

The 32-year-old has completed the first part of his medical in London. He will sign a two-year contract shortly. The deal includes an option for another season. Al Ittihad will pay him a salary worth €100 million per season.

If the transfer goes ahead, Kante will become the second big-name Premier League icon to move to Saudi Arabia after Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr in the winter following his departure from Manchester United.

Kante will leave England as a two-time Premier League champion, having won the title one time each with Leicester City in 2016 and Chelsea in 2017.

The 2018 World Cup winner has made 227 appearances in the English top flight. He tallied 12 goals and 17 assists, winning Player of the Season in 2016/17.
