Chelsea hero Frank Lampard has become the latest name to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Frank Lampard has become the latest inductee into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

The Blues legend became the sixth player to enter the Hall of Fame on Wednesday morning. The former midfielder represented West Ham, Chelsea and Manchester City in the Premier League during a 20-year top-flight career.

Lampard was a prolific goalscorer from midfield during his Premier League career, netting 177 goals in 609 appearances for West Ham, Chelsea and City.

He is most well-known for his long association with Chelsea. Lampard won the Premier League three times at Stamford Bridge while also winning the FA Cup four times, the League Cup twice and the Champions League once.

The former England international also picked up the Premier League’s Player of the Season after the 2004-05 campaign.

Lampard is the fifth inductee. Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry were the inaugural inductees, while Eric Cantona and Roy Keane were added on Tuesday.

A further player will be announced on Wednesday, with two more on Thursday.

Reacting to the recognition: Lampard said: “As a young lad I remember just wanting to make it into the West Ham team, and looking up to players like Roy Keane, Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry so to be mentioned in the same bracket as them is a real honour.

“I am very proud and thankful for the recognition.”
