Two players have terminated their contracts at Arsenal and left in January. A third could be on the way with Shodkran Mustafi now in talks.
Shkodran Mustafi is reportedly in talks with Arsenal and is already considering the possibility of terminating his contract.
The German is in the final six months of his Gunners contract but there are claims he could seek to leave the club this month.
Mustafi has barely seen game-time this season and has only been afforded three Premier League appearances in the current campaign. That shows how much he has dropped down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta.
The 28-year-old has already been linked with a host of clubs, including Serie A outfit Lazio. A report by Football London claims he could be close to leaving the club as a free-agent.
Arsenal have already let a number of players leave this month. Mesut Ozil and Sokratis both terminated their contracts while Kolasinac left on loan to former side Schalke.
Mustafi now looks set to be the next departure as the Gunners continue a massive clear-out of deadwood.
The World Cup winner joined the Gunners from Valencia back in 2016 and initially started out as a first-team player, winning two FA Cups in that spell.
However, injuries and a massive drop in form has seen Mustafi fall out of favor and it’s come as no surprise he could now be leaving the club early.
He was left out of the squad which lost 1-0 to Southampton in the FA Cup at the weekend.
An announcement over his departure could be made in the coming days.
