It’s not all been smooth sailing for Liverpool this season so far, but Andy Robertson is feeling upbeat about it.
Robertson reckons third place in the Premier League standings after eight games is a decent start for Liverpool considering the circumstances.
An unrelenting schedule and losing Virgil van Dijk to a potential season-ending injury has taken its toll. But the title holders are still in the thick of things, sitting just a point behind league leaders Leicester City in the standings.
Jurgen Klopp’s men also gave a good account of themselves in Sunday’s 1-1 draw away to Manchester City ahead of the international break.
More challenging times await Liverpool in the winter months, however, as more midweek games in both the Premier League and Champions League await.
“We are always hungry for more, but we have to be happy,” Robertson told the club’s website.
“I think when we started getting some injuries and lost a couple of players with COVID-19 everyone expected the wheels to fall off.
“But we’ve managed to steady the ship a little bit and pick up some great results. Long may that continue and long may we keep building our confidence and building our performances.
“I think this was one of our best performances in a while and hopefully we come back from internationals full of confidence and we can really kick on because we are a good team.”
The Liverpool full-back added: “I hope we go and attack this Christmas period because it’s going to be hectic.
“But we have dealt with it pretty well in previous seasons, and that’s what we need this season.”
