The Italy legend has not been in the dugout since his sacking by Juventus in 2021.

Fatih Karagumruk has confirmed Andrea Pirlo as their new manager ahead of the next season.

Following an unsuccessful spell at Juventus, Pirlo will now take the next step in his coaching career in Turkey. He will look to improve Karagumruk, who finished eighth after their impressive 2021-22 campaign.

The Turkish side have signed a one-year deal with the Azzurri legend.

A statement from the club reads: “The world-famous footballer recently coached Juventus, one of the most important clubs in Europe.

“Having also had Champions League experience with Juventus, Pirlo signed the contract that made him a member of Karagumruk for one year, starting on July 1.

“Pirlo’s press conference will be held on Tuesday, June 14, and the place and time will be announced later by our club. We welcome our coach and wish him success.”

Despite his sacking at Juventus, Pirlo’s stats in his first managerial job were decent. Under the former midfielder, Juve had a win rate of 65%, claiming 34 victories, ten draws and eight defeats. However, the Bianconeri were not able to continue their run of nine consecutive Scudetto triumphs, losing the title to Antonio Conte’s Inter.
