The former Cameroon international has spoken for the first time about his imminent transfer to Old Trafford.
Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana has confirmed that he will join Premier League club Manchester United.
The 27-year-old Cameroonian is set to undergo a medical in England on Wednesday. If things go according to plan, United hope to confirm a deal ahead of their pre-season tour of the United States.
“Playing in the Premier League and for a club like United is irresistible,” Onana told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“All parties wanted this to happen. But what matters is that, even if I had stayed [at Inter Milan], I would have been equally happy. I never had any problems at Inter.”
He added: “Thank you is the word I want to use. I say it to all the workers of Pinetina and of the company, to the managers, to the president, to the coach, to the comrades. But above all to the fans.”
Onana will replace the departed David de Gea as the new No.1 at Old Trafford. He is expected to sign a five-year deal. The move will reunite him with his former Ajax boss, and current United coach, Erik ten Hag.
The Carabao Cup holders will play French team Lyon in a friendly on Wednesday afternoon. The game will take place at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland.
