Ayew’s second spell at Ligue 1 starts with a red-card suspension.

Andre Ayew received a straight red card only two minutes into his first game for La Havre.

Ayew ended his Premier League career by leaving Nottingham Forest as a free agent in July. The 33-year-old stayed out of work until November 11, when Ligue 1 side La Havre signed him.

On Sunday, Ayew made his La Havre debut in a league match against Nantes. The experienced forward was sent onto the pitch in the 65th minute but received a straight red card for his foul on Eray Comert only two minutes later. After a quick review, VAR confirmed the red card as Ayew’s disastrous debut ended quickly.

Ayew has come under criticism for his performances in Ghana’s jersey, with some of the fans believing he doesn’t deserve the national team’s armband. In his 114 appearances for the Black Stars, Ayew has scored a total of 24 goals.

Ayew’s move to La Havre marked his return to French football after eight years. In July 2015, the Ghanaian star left Marseille for free to start his successful stint in the Premier League. During his time at Swansea, Ayew registered 47 goals and 19 assists in 141 fixtures, securing a move to West Ham in 2016.
