Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera expressed himself in an angry fashion after knowing what the FA did with Edinson Cavani after his mistake.
After Edinson Cavani’s ban, Ander Herrera came out to defend him from the decision made by the FA. There has been a generalized major outrage from the Spanish speaking base, this includes Ander Herrera. Both players became good friends from their time at PSG and remain in close contact. The Basque player simply stated what most people who don’t agree with the ban think.
A lack of understanding of the context of Cavani’s response to his friend is the reason they decided to deem him racist. But people from Latin America use that word as a nickname or a term of endearment on a regular basis. This is mainly a problem of geographical nature that Cavani completely ignored until it was too late. There are many historical implications that the English FA completely forgets when they are taking this high moral stance. Ander Herrera is having none of it after responding to Cavani’s reaction to the ban.
Herrera seems angry in his response.
After Cavani’s full statement in which he accepts the punishment but strongly disagrees, Herrera responded with a comment: “If they ban you for that. The world is going to s***. Big hugs and stay strong Edi.”
It’s clear that most of the world is not happy with the ban for Edinson Cavani but nobody expects the FA to rectify their mistake. Plus, the ban was only part of the charge as they also fined him with a ridiculous €100,000. Cavani might understand the rules needed to apply to him as any other player with the ban. However, the fine was completely unnecessary in anybody’s optics. This will only keep alienating the FA from the rest of the people and they will lose respect overall.
