The Man City striker is in scintillating form, but that’s not the real problem on Ancelotti’s mind.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is working on a plan to stop Manchester City, a team he feels ‘looks unstoppable’, not on Erling Haaland.

The two clubs meet on Tuesday in a rematch of last year’s Champions League semi-final. Real Madrid were the victors back then. They won 6-5 on aggregate after a dramatic second-leg comeback victory, before winning the final itself.

But this time, City boast Haaland in their ranks. The striker has scored 51 goals in all competitions and is the top-scorer in the Champions League, with 12 goals in eight games.

“Haaland is a very dangerous player,” Ancelotti said in a pre-match press conference on Monday.

“He’s an obvious danger. But only talking about Haaland means not talking about a complete team that plays well, that attacks, that has ideas.

“We aren’t planning how to play Haaland, but rather to play a team that looks unstoppable. I think we can have a chance to play an even, competitive game, and we can win.”

Real Madrid warmed up for the City game by winning the Copa del Rey on Saturday. They defeated Osasuna 2-1 in the final.
