Carlo Ancelotti has coached some of the biggest clubs in European football throughout his career, but appears settled on life at Everton.

Nobody could quite believe it when Ancelotti replaced the ousted Marco Silva as Everton manager in December 2019.

The Toffees were down in 15th-place in the Premier League standings at the time and set to battle for survival. It was quite a change in environment for Ancelotti, who enjoyed trophy-laden spells in Italy, France, Spain, and Germany.

The 61-year-old even coached Chelsea to Premier League and FA Cup glory in the 2009/10 campaign.

After almost a year at Goodison Park, however, Ancelotti has transformed Everton. The club’s stunning start to this season hasn’t gone unnoticed, with talk over a top-four finish beginning to emerge.

Now, to probably the delight of every ‘Evertonian’, Ancelotti is open to the prospect of staying for ‘more than two or three years’.

“I think every club has its own different project, its own goal. If you go to Milan, Real Madrid, it’s clear that the target is to win” said the Italian as quoted on the Mirror.

“Here at Everton, for now, the target is to be competitive in the Premier League and Europe, to reach Europe next season.

“It is a bit different. But the fact I feel good here, I would like to stay more than two or three years that I have usually done in the past at teams where I’ve trained.

“I would like to stay a little bit more because the project is also a bit different.

“Of course we would like to win, and I think we are going to win, but it takes time. It is going to take a little bit more time than at the other top teams that I managed.”

Everton will be in action away to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon at 15:00 (CET).
