Carlo Ancelotti talked about Everton star midfielder’s contract extension ahead of their domestic league fixture on Saturday.
Carlo Ancelotti revealed that Everton has not reached out to James Rodriguez regarding his contract extension. On top of that, the Italian boss believes that the Columbian star is quite lively at Goodison Park.
During the summer of 2020, the Toffees managed to get hold of a top prospect in football from Real Madrid. Although James struggled to play during his debut season in England, it appears that he has bonded with the club.
According to Ancelotti’s comments, it seems that the 29-year-old playmaker is in no rush to talk about extension or an early exit. As it stands, James’ agreement will run until 2022, with an option to stay for one more year.
Ancelotti told the reporters ahead of their Premier League game against Aston Villa: “We didn’t talk about an extension, I’m not involved in this.”
“His contract is quite clear, he has two years plus one option. And so I think we have time to talk about this because he has another year of contract plus an option.”
“I don’t think we need to talk about this. Maybe in the next few months, we can talk about this.”
“I think he’s happy here.”
