The Italian tactician was exceedingly successful during his eight-year stint at San Siro, helping the team lift eight trophies.
Carlo Ancelotti wants to see AC Milan win the Scudetto this season but is unsure whether his former team will be able to beat Inter Milan to the league title this season.
In the first half of 2020-21, Milan were hot favorites to end their decade-long wait for a top-flight crown. The team were comfortably on top of the table were on an unbeaten run.
But things have changed for the worse now, with the Rossoneri having dropped 22 points after 25 games. Despite having played a match more, they sit three points behind rivals and leaders Inter Milan.
While the title race is still far from over, Stefano Pioli must step up their game and get back to their old form if they are to regain their lead.
“I hope Milan will win, even if it will be tough because Inter are going at a high pace,” Ancelotti told Sky Sport Italia.
“I don’t think my friend [Inter manager Antonio] Conte will not let me be satisfied in this desire.”
Ancelotti managed Milan from 2001 to 2009. The 61-year-old guided them to two Champions League triumphs, Serie A success, and FIFA Club World Cup win, among others.
