After getting to know the sad news of James Rodriguez’s injury, Carlo Ancelotti gave the Everton fans some hope with an update.

Everton’s James Rodriguez has taken the Premier League by storm with Carlo Ancelotti as his manager. We know that during the Merseyside Derby, he suffered a tackle from Virgil van Dijk that jeopardized his inclusion for this weekend’s match at Southampton.

Carlo Ancelotti gave an initial injury update last Thursday and pretty much confirmed James was going to miss the game. However, things drastically changed in the span of 24 hours since then. The Italian manager stepped on the Everton training ground without realizing what he was about to witness.

James seems fully recovered to play the upcoming match against the Saints and Carlo just gave a quick update. This proves how a full 24 hours can make a world of difference for any player who isn’t seriously injured. Also, we need to talk about James’ importance for Everton this season.

Without James, Everton are nothing.

Carlo Ancelotti knows how valuable James Rodriguez is for his squad. The Colombian playmaker has been the best player in the Premier League so far. His new club is currently top of the tournament thanks to his achievements and missing a game could be catastrophic.

Ancelotti didn’t want to give any official announcement until he knew exactly how badly injured James was. He was pleasantly surprised when he realized it wasn’t that serious. If the Toffees want to fight for titles this season, they will need James to do so.

“James is not definitely out,” said Ancelotti on Sky Sports. “He had a big haematoma and was not able to train until today. He is much better now and we have confidence that maybe he can play.

“Fortunately, I think his recovery was really good and he trained today – he had a partial training session. I hope he is going to train tomorrow and we will see if he is in condition to play on Sunday.”
