Kylian Mbappe is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club, as his current contract at Paris Saint-Germain will expire this summer.

Carlo Ancelotti and Luis Enrique’s stance over Kylian Mbappe remains unchanged in 2024.

Now we’re into January, the free agency market for the summer is taking shape. Players who will be out of contract after June can agree to join other clubs for next season on a free transfer. The biggest name available is Mbappe.

Ancelotti stays silent

Real Madrid are long-term suitors of Mbappe’s. The Spanish team tried to sign him in 2022, before the striker renewed his contract at PSG for another two years.

Reports have linked Real Madrid with a further attempt to sign Mbappe, as his current deal winds down. Yet, during a press conference for Wednesday’s game against Mallorca, Ancelotti refused to talk.

“I won’t comment on this topic,” the Real Madrid manager told a reporter at Valdebebas.

When the reporter told him he was new, Ancelotti replied: “You must not know, I don’t talk about that here. No comment on this topic.”

Enrique insists nothing has changed

Likewise, Enrique insists his stance on Mbappe has not changed, despite the player’s future being more uncertain.

“I will continue to do what I have done until today with Kylian,” the PSG coach said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“It isn’t an issue that depends on me. I am not the one to respond to this question.”

Mbappe has not commented on his future either at this stage of the season.

The 25-year-old is currently preparing for PSG’s Trophee des Champions clash against Toulouse on Wednesday in Paris.

He has been in prolific form this season, having scored 21 goals in 22 games for the club across all competitions.
