Chelsea star Marcos Alonso has given his own insight of the training ground incident that happened between teammates Rudiger and Kepa.
Marcos Alonso says the training ground bust-up between Antonio Rudiger and Kepa Arrizabalaga shows the hunger in the Chelsea squad. In fact, is a good sign for the Blues.
On Sunday, we reported that Rudiger and Kepa were involved in an angry confrontation which saw the training session end early for the defender.
The squad were back at their Cobham training doing on Sunday following Saturday’s shock 5-2 home defeat to West Brom.
A late challenge from Rudiger on Kepa during a training match prompted a shoving match between the two. Manager Thomas Tuchel had to intervene and sent Rudiger back to the changing rooms.
It is understood that Rudiger has apologised to Kepa and Tuchel considers the matter closed.
In an interview ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League tie with Porto, Alonso dismissed the incident as something which has “always happened” and shows that the players are hungry for success.
“These are things that happen” Alonso told beIN Sport. “It shows the level of competition that there is in the team, the hunger.
“We saw it even on the training ground and that is good for the team. Even before training was finished it was all good. [It is] nothing new, it has always happened and it will still happen.
“We just need to take the positives and move on, get ready for the next game.”
