The Liverpool goalkeeper gave an honest verdict about his teammate’s chances of winning the 2021 Ballon d’Or this month in Paris.

Mohamed Salah would be a deserving winner for the Ballon d’Or but so would other candidates, says Reds teammate Alisson Becker.

The Egypt international is included in the 30-man shortlist ahead of the ceremony in Paris this month. He had another brilliant year at Anfield and has begun the new season in fine form. However, as Alisson points out, so have other players.

The Brazilian took note of Robert Lewandowski, in particular, while discussing the Ballon d’Or. The striker, like Salah, has found the back of the net frequently. In 2021 alone, he has scored an astonishing 48 goals for Bayern Munich.

“For sure. He’s deserving yes, for what he’s been showing,” Alisson told Brazilian outlet TNT Sports of Salah’s Ballon d’Or chances. “Not only this season, but he’s also a very constant player.

“I believe that the Ballon d’Or votes count with the other seasons as well. But it gets very difficult. There are a lot of players who deserve it. If we talk about deserving, there are many players… for example, Lewandowski, who’s a guy who’s been doing absurd things in recent seasons, breaking records.

“Salah too, breaking records. And other players out there with a lot of class winning titles. For sure, anyone who comes out a winner will be deserving.”
