The Dutch manager has one year remaining on his Barca contract but it remains uncertain whether he will be allowed to continue at the club.

Jordi Alba is hoping Ronald Koeman’s future is “resolved as soon as possible” amid talk of the manager potentially leaving FC Barcelona after just one season.

Koeman took over at Barcelona ahead of the 2020/21 season, replacing Quique Setien as the head coach.

With the former Everton boss at the helm, the Catalan giants were able to clinch their record 31st Copa del Rey title. However, they underperformed in La Liga, finishing third behind Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, and endured a disappointing Champions League campaign, exiting the competition at the Round of 16 stage.

The Dutchman, though, has done a great job in steadying the ship after arriving at turbulent times both on and off the pitch for Barca – and Alba admits they had a “great season” under the former defender.

“I hope that everything is resolved as soon as possible,” the left-back responded when asked about Koeman’s future in an interview with TVE.

“The coach has a contract and has had a great season. The decision is the president’s and we will accept it.”
