David Alaba admits to consoling Neymar out of pity after recognizing the immense weight of responsibilities on him at Paris Saint -Germain.

Paris Saint-Germain made history by reaching the Champions League finals for the first time in 2019/20.

However, they failed to capitalize on their unprecedented opportunity. Former player Kingsley Coman came back to haunt them as they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich.

As the other Bayern players reveled in celebration at the full-time whistle, David Alaba dashed off to comfort Neymar, who was quite visibly depressed.

Manager Thomas Tuchel and president Nasser Al-Khelaifi then also proceeded to console the Brazilian.

Neymar, who last tasted European success with FC Barcelona, has only encountered failure in his ambition to lead PSG to Champions League glory ever since his blockbuster move in 2017.

Speaking on the FC Bayern Podcast, Alaba recently reflected on his behavior which was an excellent example of sportsmanship.

“It turned out that way. He’s a player who has a lot of pressure on his shoulders, who carries a large burden, who carries the whole club,” said the Austria international.

Alaba went on to praise Neymar for playing football with a smile on his face. “That’s important,” he added. “We all love these athletes.”
