Cristiano Ronaldo and co crashed out of the tournament after a frustrating defeat at King Fahd Stadium.

Al Ittihad defeated Al Nassr 3-1 in the Saudi Super Cup semi-finals on Thursday. A brilliant display in the first half was enough for the Tigers to reach the final.

Ronaldo’s first defeat at Al Nassr

Al Ittihad started off as the better side, making a few early attempts to score the opener. Following a few half chances, Romarinho made it 1-0 for the Jeddah side in the 15th minute.

The goal forced Al Nassr to go on the offensive. But Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates were not able to create any serious chances throughout the first period.

Things got worse for Al Nassr when Abderrazak Hamdallah doubled Al Ittihad’s lead two minutes before the break.

Al Nassr looked much better in the second period as they took control over the possession. The Saudi Pro League leaders came back into the game when Talisca made it 2-1 in the 67th minute. But their following attacks lacked enough edge to help them score the equalizer.

Ronaldo is yet to fully integrate into Al Nassr’s attacking line, as his movements often seem out of sync with their other forwards.

Al Ittihad secured their victory with another goal in the 93rd minute. Romarinho completed his brilliant display as he provided an assist for his side’s third goal of the night.

Al Ittihad will face Al Feiha in the Super Cup final on Sunday. Al Nassr, on the other hand, will return to the league, where they take on Al Fateh on February 3.
