Ajax continued their promising run in Eredivisie, reaching the eighth spot on the table.

Ajax defeated Vitesse 5-0 in their Eredivisie on Saturday. Another impressive display under John van ‘t Schip saw Ajax humiliate the visitors with five goals.

What happened?

Jorrel Hato scored the opener in the third minute as Ajax found an excellent start to the game. Only nine minutes later, Kristian Hlynsson doubled the hosts’ lead with a precise low shot inside the box.

Ajax had several chances to increase their lead before the break but had to wait until the 50th minute to make it 3-0 through Alois Oroz’s own goal.

Vitesse‘s defence collapsed as they conceded another goal just eight minutes later. Steven Berghuis’ corner was smashed into the back of the net with a powerful header from Chuba Akpom.

Ajax maintained the pressure on their opponents’ backline, with Berghuis providing another assist in the 67th minute. This time, he found Kenneth Taylor, who scored his first Eredivisie goal to make it 5-0 for Ajax.

Another impressive home victory showed Ajax are not far off regaining their best form. Let’s see if Van ‘t Schip’s men can maintain their rhythm when facing Marseille in the Europa League on Thursday.
