A late match-winner complted Ajax’s sensational comeback as they remain on top of the league table.

Ajax defeated Feyenoord 3-2 in an Eredivisie thriller on Saturday. The Amsterdam giants came back from behind to claim a crucial victory in the league’s heated title race.

Antony with a late winner!

Ajax came into the game on the back of their Champions League elimination at the hands of Benfica. Their slow start to the match provided Feyenoord with a chance to go ahead in the eighth minute.

Luis Sinisterra put the third-placed side ahead, forcing Ajax to intensify their attacks to get an equalizer. The hosts managed to make it 1-1 in the 24th minute, but they conceded another one only four minutes later.

This time, Feyenoord defended their lead with much-improved defensive integrity, especially after the interval. Ajax’s constant pressure only provided opportunities for their opponents on the counter-attacks.

However, the hosts finally got what they were looking for in the 78th minute. Similar to Ajax’s recent games, it was Dusan Tadic who scored another crucial goal for Erik Ten Hag’s side.

Having escaped the defeat, Ajax pushed hard to clinch the match-winner in the final ten minutes. Their attacks finally paid off when Antony converted Nicolas Tagliafico’s assist in the 86th minute to make it 3-2 for the hosts.

The Brazilian went on to receive his second yellow card of the night in the 94th minute. But it was too late for Feyenoord to get back into the game against their ten-man opponents.

What’s next for Ajax and Feyenoord?

Ajax remain on top of the table with a two-point lead while PSV continue chasing them in the title race.

After the international break, Ten Hag’s side will face Groningen on April 2. On the other hand, Feyenoord prepare to meet Willem II on the same day.
