Amid all the movement on the European Super League, Andrea Agnelli seemed to concede defeat during one of his interviews.

Andrea Agnelli has been making the round with the press while trying to explain what the European Super League is all about. The Juventus chairman was rumored to have resigned from his post yesterday as all the chaos ensued. But Agnelli is not going anywhere and he will keep pushing for this crazy idea to move forward. However, earlier today he appeared to concede defeat with the entire project.

All six Premier League clubs resigned and today we got the confirmation of another three dropping out. AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid decided to step down from the project as well. With only three clubs left on the initiative, Agnelli will keep pushing for it to happen but he finally showed signs of giving up.

Agnelli knows how difficult the idea will be.

“You can’t have a tournament with just six clubs,” Agnelli told Reuters via Marca. “There has been a blood compact between our clubs, the Super League project has a 100 percent chance of success, we will move forward. We want to create the best competition in the world capable of benefiting the entire football pyramid, increasing the distribution of resources among the other clubs.

“The goal is to remain open with five places available each year for others, which will be defined through dialogue with the institutions of football. We will stay in domestic competitions, we will play in all the stadiums in Italy, Spain and England. Our work will be intrinsically linked to domestic competitions. Also, the bonus of 350 million [euros] a year rumor is false”.
