William D’Avila, agent of Victor Osimhen, has shed more light on the player’s resurgence which has seen him hit top form of late.
Victor Osimhen never paid attention to his critics, and that has helped him make a return to top form, says agent D’Avila.
After struggling to get goals since his summer move to Napoli, the Nigerian found himself on the end of major criticism after appearing to contract coronavirus during a party in Lagos.
That in turn led to Osimhen having to do with a place on the bench, and the goals somewhat dried up for the 22-year-old.
However, the ex-Lille man has been in decent form since he was redeployed to the starting lineup. His most recent outing saw him bag a brace in the first half against Spezia on Saturday, taking him to 10 Serie A goals.
Reflecting on the player’s new-found form, agent D’Avila told Radio Kiss Kiss, as quoted by Football-Italia: “Victor is happy for the victory and he is feeling well at Napoli. When he scores goals, everything becomes easier.
“It’s proud to wear the Napoli shirt and he wants to thank the club for supporting and waiting for him, also when he got injured and when he caught COVID.”
“He feels the trust of the whole group and the atmosphere in the dressing room is helping him. We never listened to criticism, it’s normal that there are many expectations when the transfer fee is high.”
The agent also adds that Osimhen and Gattuso maintain a perfect relationship with each other.
“Osimhen is on good terms with Gattuso, he is an excellent coach,” his agent commented.
“I don’t know if he has spoken to Galtier. Maybe the coach sent him a text to congratulate him, but not to talk about Napoli.
“Victor’s goal is to win the last three games of the season because he wants to play the Champions League with Napoli.”
