The Ivory Coast legend believes Mohamed Salah is not the only Egypt star the Elephant should watch out for in the upcoming game.

Ivory Coast will face Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 on Wednesday. The Elephants come into the game on the back of their impressive form in the group stage, where they topped Group E.

However, as Nigeria’s surprising defeat proved, group-stage records will not buy any team a ticket to the quarter-finals. As for Ivory Coast, they will meet Egypt, who have one of the tournament’s biggest stars in Mohamed Salah.

Former Arsenal defender Kolo Toure, however, believes instead of focusing on Salah, the Elephants must prepare to face a highly-disciplined team.

“Nigeria is the team that impressed me the most in the group stage, then Ivory Coast,” Toure told Mehwar TV (via King Fut).

“The Africa Cup of Nations is a very difficult tournament and the competition in it is at the highest level. In order to win you must give everything, fight and be smart tactically.

“The Egypt national team has always had phenomenal players with a strong coach. They play with a lot of spirit, and this is what distinguishes them the most.

“What distinguishes their current generation is how disciplined the team is, led by a strong coach.

“Of course, Salah is the most dangerous player for Egypt. But, then there is Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, a dangerous player that Ivory Coast must be careful around.

“Wednesday’s match will be very difficult for us.”

Egypt started the tournament with a 1-0 defeat against Nigeria. However, they managed to secure their last-16 qualification after two 1-0 wins over Guinea-Bissau and Sudan.
