Ghana head coach Milovan Rajevac has confirmed his side will soon have Mohammed Kudus back in their squad.
Mohammed Kudus suffered a rib injury while being on international duty with Ghana in November. The Ajax midfielder missed out on the Black Stars’ training camp in Qatar. However, ahead of his side’s opening game of the tournament, Milovan Rajevac provided a positive update on the player.
The Ghana manager said (via Football Ghana): “Kudus got injured in our last game against SA. He started training recently with his club (Ajax), so we are expecting him to join us in the coming days.
“A week’s time when he is fully fit and hopefully we can count on him as the tournament progresses.”
The new update means Kudus will miss his side’s first two games of the tournament against Morocco and Gabon. The Ajax star will most likely travel to Cameroon in the coming days. He will be ready to make his return in the Black Star’s match against Comoros on January 19.
This is a major squad boost for Ghana ahead of their first game of the tournament. Following his move from Nordsjaelland to Ajax, Kudus has established himself as a promising attacking midfielder at Ajax. The Ghana star has started seven games for Ajax across all competitions, scoring two goals.
