After a brilliant debut with the Spain national team, Adama Traore finally revealed the reason he decided to leave FC Barcelona.

FC Barcelona is a club that historically doesn’t treat their players properly, Adama Traore is just another example. You have a forward who started his career under Gerardo Martino during the Argentine manager’s only season at the club. Adama was only 17 years of age when that happened. He was a skinny kid who came in to replace Neymar and a whole future ahead of him.

But the powers that be at Barcelona didn’t see him as a viable prospect to succeed at the club and they decided to let him leave. All Adama wanted was to get his opportunity, but he quickly understood it wasn’t happening. That’s why he decided to take a chance in English football with Aston Villa, he left for €10 million.

Cut to last Wednesday, where he finally made his debut with the Spanish national team. We aren’t sure if Traore would’ve grown as a player as he did during his time in England, but that decision changed his life forever.

Adama wouldn’t mind going back.

During an interview with Marca, the Wolves star revealed everything about his exit from Barcelona: “I didn’t leave Barcelona on good terms”, he said.

“I left because they stopped giving me opportunities. I didn’t know what I had to do better, because they didn’t tell me why it was happening”

“In my last season – when I played – I believed I had done enough to deserve more playing time,” he added.

“But they made me go back to Barcelona B, where I had spent two years already. I wanted to grow as a player, and I felt that leaving was my opportunity to see if I could reach the top level.

“I would’ve liked someone at Barcelona to talk to me, at least to tell me the reasons why I wasn’t playing I tried to keep training and I didn’t demand anything.

“I respect the club and they can take whatever decisions they want, but it all left a sour taste. Why not? I wouldn’t turn them down. I would go to Real Madrid, too”
