The La Masia graduate sealed a return to his boyhood club on Saturday in a six-month loan deal from Wolves.
Adama Traore has described his return to Barcelona as a ‘special moment’ and hopes to repay the club’s faith on the pitch.
The 26-year-old winger has officially rejoined his boyhood side on loan from Wolves until the end of the season. Barca have an option to make the deal permanent in the summer. It could reportedly cost the club around €30 million, although this option is not mandatory.
Traore has reportedly accepted a ‘huge pay cut’ as part of the deal, despite Tottenham offering better wages.
‘I am very happy and it is a very special moment’
Speaking for the first time since the announcement, Traore told BarcaTV: “I am so happy to come back here. It has been a long time since I was here.
“For me, it is a special moment because it has been many years since I played here. I grew up here in this town, I grew up here with my family and I grew up here with my fans.
“I am very happy and it is a very special moment. I would like to give back that happiness on the pitch, and that’s all.”
In his previous spell in Barcelona, Traore graduated from the famed La Masia academy. He then represented the club’s youth and B teams before making his senior debut in November 2013.
The Spain international made four appearances for the first team before joining Aston Villa for €10 million in August 2015.
He hopes to make his second debut for Barca on February 6 against Atletico Madrid in LaLiga.
