The stage is set for a mouthwatering Europa League match as two teams in top form domestically as well as continentally prepare to clash.

AC Milan have simply overpowered their Europa League opponents in this campaign and now prepare to take a big step towards making progress to the competition’s knockout stages.

However, their determination will be put to a hard test as they are to take on a team that have been almost equally impressive as themselves in Lille.

The gripping contest between the Serie A giants and the Ligue 1 side will kick off at San Siro on Thursday night.

AC Milan vs Lille Preview:

Stefano Pioli’s men are arguably the most consistent and in-form team not just in Italy but in all of Europe. They hold the top position in the Serie A table with a two-point cushion while also lead the Europa League group with a similar margin.

The Rossoneri remain unbeaten across all competitions this term having won seven of their eight matches. A 2-1 result against Udinese marked their most recent win.

Christophe Galtier’s team have also been nothing less than remarkable, maintaining an unbeaten streak across all competitions. Unlike their upcoming opponents, however, they sit second in Ligue 1 standings with 19 points from 9 games.

Also, they go into Thursday’s tie with a rather undesirable record of zero wins in the last three games, drawing 1-1, 2-2, and 1-1 against Nice, Celtic, and Lyon respectively.

Regardless, the opposition cannot afford any complacency against them as the French are just two points adrift of the top spot in Group H and could take the lead with a win, depending on the result, on matchday 3.

AC Milan vs Lille Head-to-head:

2006 was the last time the two clubs went against each other. It was Lille who prevailed and comfortably so with a 2-0 result. In the second and only other encounter between them, a stalemate was witnessed.

AC Milan vs Lille Team News:

The hosts have almost every player available for selection with the only expected exceptions being Mateo Musacchio and Samu Castillejo.

Galtier will be the happier one among the two managers as he is expected to have a fully fit squad at his disposal.

Milan predicted starting XI: Donnarumma; Dalot, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Hernandez; Tonali, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Ibrahimovic

Lille predicted starting XI: Maignan; Celik, Soumaoro, Botman, Bradaric; Ikone, Soumare, Andre, Bamba; David, Yazici
