Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori has impressed on loan with AC Milan. The Serie A giants are ready to make a decision on the defender.
AC Milan have decided to sign Fikayo Tomori on a permanent move, claims reports.
The defender joined the Rossoneri in January, having struggled for game-time under former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.
Tomori has impressed under new colors and has already racked up 12 appearances under Stefano Pioli.
The 23-year-old has already made quite an impression, and Milan are moving to make a quick decision on the player. Just recently, Rossoneri director Maldini did confirm the club were looking to make his loan move a permanent one.
As per Goal, AC Milan have already decided to activate the €28m buy-out clause which was included in the loan deal for Tomori.
Had the defender stayed a bit longer at Chelsea, it might have been a different story. Thomas Tuchel was appointed manager a few days after the loan move to Milan. Speaking on the player’s transfer, Tuchel has already hinted he might have the defender in his future plans.
However, it is no longer in Chelsea’s hands as Milan now have the final say on whether or not they will go ahead with their purchase of Tomori. In actual fact, €28m could come as a bargain buy for a player of his quality and potential.
As per the report, the Blues will try to frustrate the Serie A side by demanding that the full fee for the 23-year-old is paid in full at once.
Speaking on his frustrations at Chelsea, Tomori recently said: “2020, football-wise, was very, very difficult, especially after the way 2019 had gone for me playing games.”
“From being at 100 to literally going down to zero and then not knowing the reason why it had gone to zero, it was very challenging.”
“I’m not saying I’m never going to be at Chelsea again. But at this time I’m not a Chelsea player, I’m at Milan and I have to be focused on here.”
