After several years of unsuccessful campaigns, Serie A giants AC Milan are hoping to build a new destructive squad.

AC Milan executive Ivan Gazidis mentioned the desire the achieve the best talent in the world in January. As everyone awaits the upcoming winter transfer window, the Serie A giants look forward to adding new prospects to the team.

As it stands, Milan tops the league table with 13 points in five games. This is the courtesy of the new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who netted six goals in three outings. Subsequently, the Sweden international joined the Italy club in January this year.

Milan evidently is two points ahead of second-place Napoli and four points ahead of current champions Juventus. Cristiano Ronaldo’s side stands fifth in the table after a decent start to the season.

A clear strategy.

Nonetheless, after going through several years of struggle, Milan now aims to lift the major title in Italy.

And of course, to fulfill this challenging task, Gazidis expects the club to add more firepower in the next transfer window. Moreover, the Milan executive is aware of the difficult situation caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“We are going through a positive moment, but the path is still long and challenging,” he said. “The club has strong ownership behind it that has faith in the team.

“We have a clear strategy. To sign some of the best talents in the world and make them grow with us.

“The summer transfer window has just closed and we are very satisfied. The sports management, led by Paolo Maldini, is already preparing for the winter window and we are confident.”

He added: “The world of football recognized, even before the coronavirus, that a more stable market would benefit everyone. This includes the clubs, players, agents, and intermediaries.

“Personally, I have always been committed to bringing order and stability. And I will continue to do so for the benefit of the world of football, both in Italy and internationally.”

Gazidis joined Milan in September 2018 from the Premier League side Arsenal. Consequently, he received a tough job of developing team morale following the rise of other clubs to win the elite league.

Furthermore, Gazidis talked about the formation of the potential European Super League.

“For over 10 years, speculation has been heard about the Super League. There are many reflections underway on the so-called Super League,” he said.

“However, the main focus of the football world remains on the development of existing international competition. And there are no proposals that could lead to a break with the national leagues.

“Milan is playing an active role in all discussions on the development of football. Our leadership and credibility make us influential. And authoritative at the various discussion tables in Serie A, ECA, UEFA, and FIFA.”
