A Chelsea academy product is making finding the back of the net look easy lately, and he is delighted to be back in favor in the team.
Hit with a transfer ban, Frank Lampard brought Tammy Abraham from his loan spell in the Championship in 2019/20 and handed him the team’s goalscoring responsibility.
The young striker shouldered the responsibility well as he scored 15 times in 34 Premier League appearances in his breakthrough campaign.
Chelsea brought in German marksman Timo Werner over the summer, putting Abraham’s place in the starting XI at risk.
As expected, the 23-year old’s game time has indeed gotten affected but he has made the most of the limited opportunities he has received.
He has netted four times and registered five assists across all competitions in just three starts this season, and it appears he has earned his place back in Lampard’s line-up.
“I am over the moon to be back in the team,” Abraham declared in an exclusive interview with the club’s official website.
“I am playing with great players and the new signings have been a breath of fresh air. We are starting to understand how each other plays and we are getting results.
“We have self-belief now, the belief is back, the confidence is back and we hope we can keep it going.”
