The Arsenal goalkeeper’s father called out Jamie Carragher for his remarks about his son’s behavior in the north London derby.

Former Liverpool defender turned football pundit, Jamie Carragher, has found himself in hot water for his recent comments about Arsenal’s goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

The criticism has ignited a wave of strong reactions, including a scathing response from Ramsdale’s father, Nick Ramsdale, on social media platform X.

Ramsdale was benched for the third consecutive match in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham. Instead, David Raya took the reins in goal again. The Spaniard, a summer loan signing from Brentford, conceded his first two goals at the weekend, but earned plaudits for some fine saves.

One of those saves even earned applause from Ramsdale on the bench, a moment that Carragher commented about on Sky Sports.

Carragher quipped, “I thought I was at the Oscars – you know when someone loses the Oscar and they start clapping and smiling for the other person. I was laughing when I saw that. He’s absolutely devastated.”

The remark did not sit well with Ramsdale’s father, Nick, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express his discontent.

“You are a Disgrace!! Show some class!! My lad has,” he posted.

Ramsdale has been in goal for Arsenal in five matches this season, including four in the Premier League. He has registered one clean sheet and conceded five goals.

The goalkeeper will hope to get back into the line-up for Wednesday’s third-round clash against Brentford in the Carabao Cup.
