The 25-year-old’s impressive performances in the Gunners’ goal have earned him a new deal.

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has signed a new long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners have not disclosed the length of Ramsdale’s deal, but manager Mikel Arteta said in the club’s press release that “we’re all looking forward to enjoying many more years of Aaron the player and the person at the football club.”

The previous contract Ramsdale signed when he joined the club in 2021 was valid until 2025.

“It’s a huge amount of pride, it’s something you work for,” the goalkeeper said.

“It doesn’t matter if you’ve been at the club for a month or for four years, you always want to get the next [contract] and push on with the team. To get it after two years, I’m buzzing. It just means I can concentrate and keep my head down and hopefully after a few more years I’ll get another one and carry on living the dream at the football club.

“As soon as you put that Arsenal shirt on, they [fans] will give you every chance to try and perform. I knew I could win them over at some point — and thankfully I did that quite early really.”

Arsenal paid around €28 million to acquire Ramsdale from Championship side Sheffield United in August 2021.

The Englishman quickly displaced Bernd Leno as the club’s No.1 keeper, going on to become a key member of Mikel Arteta’s title-challenging team this season.

In 36 Premier League appearances, Ramsdale has kept 13 clean sheets. Manchester United’s David de Gea (16) and Liverpool’s Alisson (14) are the only shot-stoppers to have bettered this tally.
