The Saudi Pro League has welcomed another player from the Premier League in Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez.
Riyad Mahrez has completed a transfer to Al Ahli from reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on a contract until June 2027.
The 32-year-old Algeria international becomes the seventh Premier League player to move to the Saudi Pro League. He has joined Al Ahli for a reported £30 million transfer fee. The deal involves an initial payment of £26 million and an extra £4 million in add-ons.
Mahrez is no stranger to success, having won four Premier League titles with City, including a historic treble last season. The Algerian made 236 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side after arriving from Leicester City in 2018. He scored 78 goals and assisted 59 times.
In a statement, Mahrez said, “To play for Manchester City has been an honour and privilege. I came to City to win trophies and enjoy my football, and I achieved all that and so much more. I have had five unforgettable years with this football club, working with unbelievable players, fantastic supporters, and the best manager in the world.”
N’Golo Kante (Al Ittihad), Ruben Neves (Al Hilal), Kalidou Koulibaly (Al Hilal), Edouard Mendy (Al Ahli), Roberto Firmino (Al Ahli), and Jordan Henderson (Al Ettifaq) are the six other players to have left the Premier League for Saudi Arabia this summer.
